MORE ABOUT THIS PROGRAM AND NY MARINE RESCUE

  • This program by New York Marine Rescue Center (NYMRC) provides a "mock stranding" experience that simulates a rescue.

  • This hands-on learning experience uses life-size models and actual rescue equipment to teach participants about the response process.

  • This program is NOT a NY Marine Rescue Level 1/2 Rescuer Training. See link below for more info.

What to do if you find a stranded sea turtle

    • Call immediately: If you find a sea turtle on the beach, call the NYS Stranding Hotline at

      631-369-9829.

    • Do not move or warm the turtle: Never attempt to warm, move, or transport the animal yourself unless specifically instructed by a biologist from the NYMRC.

    • Provide location: The hotline is crucial for providing the exact location to the response team.

    • Follow instructions: Biologists will give you instructions on the best way to help the turtle.
