Autumn Outings
“North Fork Nature in November”
Turtleback EEC is running three outdoor education programs this November during school holidays for ages 5-12 (CIT’s welcome). Stay tuned for locations. You may enroll your child for one day or all three. Themes, lessons, and topics will vary. Autumn is a great time of year to explore the outdoors when tick populations are low and the weather is cooler.
Tuesday 11/5, Monday 11/11, Wednesday 11/27 10:00-2:00
Locations:
Laurel Lake Preserve 11/5
Veterans Memorial Beach 11/11
Bailie Beach Scout Lodge 11/27
Time: 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Ages: 5-12 (CIT’s welcome)
Fee: $80 per child per day
Payments via check, Venmo, Zelle, cash
MONDAY 11/11 To honor our Veterans, participants will be creating a care package and writing thank you notes. A percentage of the proceeds will be donated to a Veterans Organization. A Bald Eagle has been spotted several times recently at Vets Beach. We will also be discussing our Nation’s symbol, how to identify the different ages of eagles and how to protect them. Laminated Bald Eagle ID chart included.
WEDNESDAY 11/27 For this final Autumn Outing, we are celebrating the Indigenous People of North America. Participants will expand their knowledge on Native American Culture through stories, campfire cooking, sensory awareness, fire starting, tracking, and hopefully wigwam building!
This will be our last outing for 2024!
