Introduction to Maps & Compass

  • Hallock State Park Preserve 6062 Sound Avenue Riverhead, NY, 11901 United States (map)

Jennifer Murray, State Park Naturalist, will introduce map skills and basic compass-reading skills. Although this program is geared for ages 7-10, it is a family event and all are welcome. Learn how to read and create a map. We will then learn how to use a compass and set out on a compass course (short version). This is an indoor and outdoor activity, please dress accordingly. We will not run the outdoor segment in extreme weather conditions. Meet at the Visitor Center’s Community Room at Hallock State Park Prserve. This event is free and registration is not required.
