“Friends of a Feather” is a monthly bird walk geared for families with State Park Naturalist Jennifer Murray, providing an opportunity to learn about birds, “birding,” and community science projects to get involved in. A meet up may also include a workshop or a craft. Families will experience a different topic each month.
This January, discover the status of the North Fork’s Bald Eagle population at Hallock State Park Preserve. Participants will learn how to identify Bald Eagles, where to look for them, and how to protect them. We will go on a short hike to look for Bald Eagles along the shoreline (approximately half mile round trip). Please check the weather in advance and dress accordingly. NOTE: It is usually cooler and windier along the Long Island Sound. Meet at the Upper Parking Lot. There is no parking fee, this program is FREE and open to all ages. Register by calling Hallock State Park Preserve: (631) 315-5475.
