Coach Jennifer Murray

Olympic Alternate, National Champion, HS Team Championship Coach, Level 4 US Fencing Coach

Coach Murray’s coaching experience spans over 25 years, starting as an Assistant Coach at her alma mater where within a year as the head coach won the Section XI Team Championship. From there, she was hired to strengthen the Jericho HS Fencing Team, developed the Cold Spring Harbor Fencing Team, and formed Island Fencing Academy, a fencing club in eastern Nassau County that train youth athletes for national level tournaments. She is a level 4 US Fencing Coach, an accomplished competitive fencer, has competed in all three weapons of foil, epee, and sabre, is a former national champion in foil ranked fourth in the nation, and trained at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs as an Olympic alternate. Island Fencing Academy was a state of the art fencing facility being the first fencing school to use Sport Court flooring and develop progressive fencing classes. Fencing Coaches from across the country and Canada visited Island Fencing Academy to tour the facility and learn about the programs. After the birth of her son James, Jennifer sold the academy to the collective of coaches at the school. After taking a hiatus from coaching and moving to the North Fork. East End Fencing Academy was formed to provide fencing instruction to youth on both forks since 2014. Here the musketeer program was revitalized which eventually added archery to the program. Building fencing skills takes years to develop and students were competing at local events within a few years. Enduring the tumultuous era around Coronavirus Pandemic, the program has seen some ups and downs. However Jennifer is happy to be back, offering her cutting edge classes!
